19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev won his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a difficult year, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court since spring of the previous year.

The win also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

His defensive strategy and frequent reactions on court had led observers to question if his ability to play at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet rescued four early chances in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
